Dave Sifry - Don't order a body bag just yet
Shock! This just in: Search company now has page to search blogs, Dave Sifry, CEO, Technorati declared dead. This story after our exclusive interview with the with the wall plaster repairmen who fixed the hole from the Steve Ballmer chair attack.
<sigh>
If you are a start up, new CEO, founder, etc, say the following prayer EVERY NIGHT to the women upstairs:
“Now I lay me down to sleep, VCs off my ass please keep. Please bless all my customers, my employees, and please let me remember my kid’s names.
And, please, ma’am, please. Please have make me successful enough to have the others be compared to me, my competitors chase me screaming they are gonna kill me, and please have everybody’s product declared as the killer product with me declared dead.”
On a slightly more serious note, may you be fortunate enough to be put in the position where you can be professional enough to write a welcome to the party note like Dave did here.
“….. having a big traditional search player like Google working on blog search is a validation moment for the entire blogosphere…. Welcome to the party, Google.”
Being a target of the other guy means you must have done something right so, smile, be proud, congratulate your staff/team, and get back to loving your customers.
Good luck, Dave.

The truly amazing thing is that google seems to have fairly seriously screwed up their idea of how blogs work and bloggers think, when implementing this. That's usually very much NOT google's failure mode.

"Make no mistake: 'blog search' is not only about blogs. It's about searching for content that is highly time-sensitive."
