LaunchSquad: 1 Rick: 0
Anna, over at Launchsquad.com, was kind enough to send me a follow up note about the 'oops' with respect to sending me the PR note on her scheduling company. As part of the email, she mentioned this:
"I just posted this comment but wanted to send you a note personally. Again my apologies, while I did take a glance at the current investment list on your blog and didn't see any competitors, I do understand that a little more research would have yielded that information."
And therein lies the point worth noting. She looked at my blog page and didn't see Tungle because, I hadn't noticed that the typelist within Typepad thing had been set to show ten investments and, well, oops, my bad. I fixed it so they should all be there.
What's interesting here is that Anna's mail (and comments on the original blog post) were polite, mea culpa, etc. She managed to point out that there was an attempt while still saying sorry 'bout that.
Very professional and quite refreshing.
That reaction, coupled with a followup email with some good humor in it, tells me this is probably somebody we should think about doing business with. So, I've sent her name/company info over to a couple of companies that are looking for some PR services.
Homework continues to be an important thing but keeping your cool, being professional, having a sense of humor trumps most all.
Well done, Anna.

Homework is everyone's job, Mr Segal. I daresay that there are those in the venture capital community who wish they could blame the dog for eating their homework.
Meanwhile, LaunchSquad is an excellent resource. Any startup would be lucky to have the firm handling media relations. Besides the deep talent, they have cool heads. As you can see.
