So there I am this morning in the NewCo first board meeting all ready to rock. Software coding shows no problems; check. Stuff is coming in on time; check. Name of actual company getting close (go Michael!); check. Everything appears to be green as they say at NASA.
My most proudest achievement: no dough spent yet. All of the seed capital is still in the bank.
Email pops up as we are finishing. Hi, you’re account is overdrawn. OMFG is thought one. That’s effin impossible was thought two and scroll down to read the rest of the message was thought three.
Turns out we put 6 figures plus into our shinny new CIBC multi-currency account. It was closed in U.S. Dollars, we deposited it in U.S., and it was all there; in U.S. dollars. The Canadian dollar side, where the fees come out, was a giant -$22.00 in overdrawn status. The nice private banker lady wanted to move one hundo over to cover the fees.
Overdrawn. Fees.
I’m taking no pay but CIBC damn sure is.
Just part of the adventure.

Did you get charged a fee for overdrawing your account, on top of the fee which overdrew your account?
