As I start my trek in Newfoundland chasing Icebergs, I thought I'd get a little coding project started: Cloning Windows Live Writer for the Mac. I've posted a job up on rentacoder.com which outlines a fairly easy requirement. I'm looking to get a native Mac application that is look and feel like Windows Live Writer. It doesn't have to share files or do anything particularly fancy, just the basics.
Assuming I can get it done where it can post stuff to this blog, I will release the source code into the wild and see what grows.
Stay tuned, should be fun.
Fantastic idea! I've been lamenting my loss of Windows Live Write since I made the switch to Mac 18 months ago. It is the only thing I miss about Windows and I can't believe that no one has made a solid editor for the Mac. Qumana is OK; ecto too .. but nothing compares to WLW. Thanks, Rick!

Given that Windows Live Writer is a (fairly complex) .NET application, you might find some success porting it directly, targetting Mono.

Rick, have you tried MarsEdit2?
http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/
it has many of the same basic writing features and ease of use on OS X.
